Guy troubles.... ladies I need your help!?

Heres the breakdown of the situation: I met this guy on new years eve, but I told everyone I didn't like him because I thought I liked his friend. So it turned out his friend was a jerk, but this guy still liked me, a lot, so we texted but I still didn't admit I liked him. So a few weeks ago I went sledding with him and finally told my friend I liked him. After that he asked me out and I said yes. THREE days after, he tells me he's moving, and we should break up. MHMM.. So I'm just like, okay yeah thats fine. But things got awkward fast. He told me the next day he wanted to stay "best friends" with me... so I thought that was sweet and all.. but it gets worse. He told me he was moving overseas, but told everyone else he was moving like a town away. UGH! So yea his ex told me this too so that made it GREAT! I know this is long, but hold on! So during ping period, he taps me on the shoulder to aknowledge that I'm alive because for about 2 weeks I was basically dead to him. So the "tapping" has stopped and I'm really confused because I thought he liked me, he told my friends that he liked me a lot. I'm afraid to even text him bc I don't want rumors to be spread about me that I'm "desperate" or something. What should I do?
