Expensive Whiskey or Scotch. Are they worth the price?

I drink stuff like Jameson normally and I've tried expensive kinds of scotch when out at bars but by that time I've had a few and can't tell the difference. Do anyone that knows think some of these bottles are worth 150 -200 dollars?
