How can you tell if you have cracked a rib?

I have been in pain for quite some time - two weeks. We originally thought it was in internal organ (appendix, liver, gall bladder, ovary or kidney)- but a CT scan and untrasound could find nothing. The pain has lessened but is still very apparent. When feeling along my rib today, the pain became more intense. Would a CT scan or untrasound have picked up on a cracked rib, especially if that wasn't what was being looked at?
